Take-Back & Recycling Program

End-of-Life Management for Immersion-Cooled Battery Energy Storage Systems

Responsible end-of-life management for immersion-cooled battery energy storage systems

EticaAG is committed to full lifecycle accountability for every Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) we manufacture and deploy. Our Take-Back & Recycling Program ensures EticaAG systems are safely decommissioned, responsibly processed, and recycled through certified partners, with documented chain-of-custody from removal through final recovery.

EticaAG systems are built from materials and components with established recycling and recovery pathways, including LFP battery cells and modules, immersion cooling liquid, racks and enclosures, copper conductors, and power electronics. At end of service, EticaAG coordinates safe removal and certified processing so materials are recovered and returned to productive use where feasible.

What the Program Covers

The program supports end-of-service and repowering events for EticaAG systems, including:

  • Full system retirement

  • Module replacement and core returns

  • Warranty returns

  • Early decommissioning due to damage or site changes

Program Options

Full-Service Decommissioning

Shutdown planning, removal logistics, packaging, transport, and certified recycling through approved partners.

Certified Recycling Partner Referral

EticaAG connects customers with vetted recycling partners in their region, aligned with safety and compliance requirements.

Module Replacement with Core Return

EticaAG supports module replacement programs with structured return logistics for retired modules.

Safety and Compliance

All end-of-life activities follow established procedures for:

  • De-energization and electrical isolation

  • Safe packaging and transport

  • Compliance with applicable hazardous materials and battery transport requirements

EticaAG works with trained personnel and qualified service providers to ensure safe handling at every stage.

Second-Life and Repowering Pathways

Where technically viable and compliant with applicable codes and certification requirements, EticaAG may evaluate retired modules for second-life applications prior to recycling.

Modules that do not meet safety thresholds proceed directly to certified recycling.

Certified Recycling Partnerships

EticaAG works with qualified recycling partners selected for:

  • Proven compliance and safety performance

  • Transparent chain-of-custody documentation

  • Demonstrated material recovery capability

  • Reporting of recycling outcomes

EticaAG prioritizes recycling pathways that maximize recovery of valuable materials.

Immersion Liquid Recovery

EticaAG systems are designed for controlled recovery of immersion cooling liquid during decommissioning. Where feasible, the liquid is reconditioned for reuse. If reuse is not feasible, the liquid is processed through certified recovery channels.

Traceability and Documentation

EticaAG maintains documentation for retired systems, including:

  • Serial number traceability

  • Chemistry identification

  • Recycling partner confirmation

  • Chain-of-custody records

  • Recycling and recovery documentation
